How to loop a YouTube video

Use YouTube's own menu when you only need a full-video repeat. Use A/B points when you need one phrase, passage, or demonstration to restart at exact timestamps.

The quick method in Loopstead

1. Copy the YouTube URL. A normal watch link, youtu.be share link, Shorts link, or live link can all contain the same 11-character video ID.

When YouTube's built-in loop is enough

On desktop, YouTube offers a native full-video loop. Right-click inside the video player and choose Loop. On touch devices and some player layouts, that command may not be as obvious; putting one video in a playlist and repeating the playlist is another option.

The native method is the simplest choice when you want the entire video and do not need a timer, playlist notes, or a precise segment. It also avoids moving to another site. A dedicated workspace becomes useful when the repeat is part of a larger task: studying a lecture, drilling a musical passage, or keeping a stable soundtrack during a timed work block.

How to loop one exact part

A/B looping uses two timestamps. Point A is where playback restarts; point B is where playback turns around. In Loopstead, play or scrub to the desired beginning and choose Set A. Move to the desired ending and choose Set B. When playback reaches B, it returns to A.

Do not make the first loop too tight. Human speech and music contain lead-ins, breaths, and pickup notes that begin just before the part you notice. Start A a little early and end B a little late. Once the loop feels natural, move the points inward if precision matters.

The A/B method is especially useful for a sentence in another language, a guitar bar, a dance count, or one step in a tutorial. For longer material, first loop a complete idea. Splitting the material into tiny pieces too early can make it harder to understand how the pieces join.

Extra tracking parameters after the video ID are harmless. Playlist links need more care because a playlist URL can contain both a video ID and a list ID. Pasting it loads the current video; use Loopstead's own playlist controls if you want to save several videos together in the browser.

Why a video may not loop

The uploader disabled embedding

Some owners allow a video on YouTube but block playback in embedded players. Loopstead cannot override that setting. Open the video on YouTube or choose another upload that permits embedding.

The video is private, removed, or age-restricted

Private and removed videos cannot be loaded. Other restrictions may require a signed-in YouTube session or direct playback on YouTube.

The URL does not contain a valid video ID

Copy the address from the video page or use YouTube's Share button. Search-results URLs and channel URLs identify a page, not one video.

Mobile playback pauses in the background

Mobile operating systems and browsers control background media. They may suspend an inactive tab or require a new user gesture before audio resumes. Keeping the browser visible gives the embedded player the most predictable behavior.
